ORGANIC GARDENING Aug/Sept 2012, “Why School Gardens Matter” + CSS’s OPEN FACE Project

For the past few years, during June term I’ve been working with Columbia Second School (CSS) in Harlem. Originally a curriculum created by Professor Meredith Hill to help the 7th graders produce a sustainable food magazine called Fresh! (here’s the 2011 edition, 2012 coming soon), has now become an effort in bringing gardens to school around the country.

Organic Gardening magazine covered our class in their Aug/Sept 2012 issue, a piece called “Why School Gardens Matter”.

*CSS’s class of 2017, has also started a great food/art project, called Open Face, where sandwiches are the medium for self-portraits.
